Lara Croft.

(said as a greeting.)

It is now 1:40 PM EST for me. The music video I am recommending for this advice is for the song ‘Water Runs Dry’ by Boyz II Men. According to wikipedia, the song was released April 10, 1995. It reached number 2 in the United States. To watch the music video for free, search for phrase ‘boys 2 men water runs dry’ in www.youtube.com, and it should be one of the 1st selections offered, with over 44 million views. To me, the song is meant to relax you, especially when you are driving. When you choose to watch the music video, the group ‘Boyz II Men’ seems to me are trying to give advice to help you have a more stable relationship, and in that context, the music video is relaxing to watch. And, of course, even that is refurbished for this advice. For example, I just recently watched the entire music video on youtube less than a half an hour ago, and even though I am not in a relationship, I watched it in a context that was relaxing to watch. If you are driving, you can just choose to listen to the song ‘Water Runs Dry’, just to feel relaxed as you drive. The music video can also be watched just so that you can feel relaxed.

Before I start explaining idea ‘Not add’, there is one more idea I would want to explain. Even though the idea is originally part of the explanation of idea ‘Not add’, I believe that it is better that I explain something about it now. The reason is that, once I start explaining idea ‘Not add’, I plan to continue explaining it in a certain order. The idea I plan to explain now I recently invented on 6/28/2018 on a Thursday, just 2 days ago. That means I will probably have to explain that idea last, and it may take me a few weeks until I get to it. So, instead of waiting several weeks until I am finally able to explain it, instead I’ll explain something about it now, not it’s original explanation, but something about it that may sustain you somewhat.

Not another:

According to www.merriam-webster.com, here is the definition of the idiom called ‘No other’: ‘leaving no choice.’, and here is it’s sentence use: ‘It was horrible. There’s really no other way to describe it.’ Basically, idea ‘Not another’ identifies an instigation and/or inadvertency that imposes an impression of meaning that seems to be exclusive, as if it has no other meaning other than the meaning that is imposed upon you to interpret it. That includes a possible adverse context. So, if such an impression of meaning is imposed upon you to interpret, you too may treat it in it’s context as if there is no other way to treat it, except in the impression that is imposed upon you to treat it. The idea is called ‘Not another’ instead of ‘No other’ because, when you use it in it’s original recommended context, saying the phrase ‘Not another’ is meant to help you identify such an instigation in a way that says that you are not using such an impression of meaning in such a context. The word ‘Not’ indicates to you, if you choose to, that such an impression of meaning is ‘not’ used by you. Calling this idea ‘Not another’ instead of ‘No other’ I believe is more effective.

The best illustration example I can think of right now for idea ‘Not another’, and it’s not an exact match so I’m going to refurbish it, is in movie ‘Starship Troopers(1997)’, starring Clancy Brown as Sgt. Zim, and Jake Busey as Ace Levy. The movie is available streaming rental and purchase from Amazon.com. Since purchasing the movie is about 8 dollars, I recommend that, if you use it for a reference like I do, that you purchase this movie, since you may use it as a reference more in the future. Otherwise, you can just rent it streaming. And according to Amazon Video, the scene starts 24 minutes and 7 seconds into the movie, Sgt. Zim is talking to the new recruits. Here is the quote:

Sgt. Zim: ‘To think this had to happen to me. What a bunch of apes. No! Strike that! You don’t rate that good. Never in my life have I seen…’

Ace Levy: (chuckles)

Sgt. Zim: ‘Do you think I’m funny? Do I make you laugh? Do you think I’m a comedian, son?’

Ace Levy: ‘I’m sorry.’

Sgt. Zim: ‘The first words and the last words out of your talking holes will be ‘Sir’! Do you get me!’

The new recruits: ‘Sir, yes, sir!’

In that scene, refurbished for advice, Ace Levy thought that Sgt. Zim said some sort of joke, and since Ace Levy’s life experience was not able to interpret that joke in a preferred perspective, that caused Ace to uncontrollably laugh. All of the other new recruits thought that what Sgt. Zim said was also very funny. However, they all leaned on Ace Levy uncontrollably laughing about it to allow themselves to not laugh about it. Keep in mind that they are all new recruits. None of them in this refurbished explanation have any experience yet with military routine interaction.

Now, if you choose to use idea ‘Not another’, even though something from a mild to moderate instigation may seem like it has only one impression of meaning and interaction, you can contemplationally say to yourself ‘Not another’, and choose not to resolve it or interact with it based on that exclusive impression of meaning. Here is my theory as to how some other people are able to mitigate(lessen) the adverse effects of instigations identified by idea ‘Not another’ without having idea ‘Not another’: For example, according to wikipedia, colleges and schools have debating teams. Here is a quote from an article in wikipedia for word ‘debate’. The sub-category is ‘Competitive debating’:

” In schools and colleges, competitive debating often takes the form of a contest with explicit rules. It may be presided over by one or more judges or adjudicators. Both sides seek to win against the other while following the rules. One side is typically in favor of (also known as “for”, “Affirmative”, or “Pro”) or opposed to (also known as “against”, “Negative”, “Con”) a statement, proposition, moot, or Resolution. The “for” side must state points that will support the proposition; the “against” side must refute these arguments sufficiently to falsify the other side. ”

So, it is my belief that, if a person has debating experience acquired from his/her school, that person has experience being both in favor of and opposed to certain notions. So, if that person experiences an instigation that tries to put an impression of meaning that seems to be exclusive in use, the innocent person who has debating experience may be able to mitigate and/or even negate completely such an impression of meaning.

Another example are actors in general. Without giving a specific illustration example, it is my belief that actors should be able to easily portray many different characters. That ability may also be used to mitigate and/or negate completely an instigation that tries to impose an exclusive interaction of meaning upon them. Of course, this is ‘standard demographic’ advice, and it is my intent to not give you advice as if you are required, for example, to be an actor, or have some sort of debating experience.

Mistaken identity:

Another example of ‘Not another’, let’s call this idea ‘Mistaken identity’, is when you contemplationally interact with something with a certain sincerity of belief, and then soon after using such a sincere interaction, you are then given another impression that you were wrong with the use of such a belief. Even if it’s just a minor contemplation, I believe that people still experience awkwardness and bewilderment because they blame themselves as if they intentionally interacted with the impression of belief they are accused of doing, when in fact their original interaction did not have such an accused purpose. For example, several weeks ago, while I was in a moving bus, I saw a person, I think that person was on a ladder, doing what originally looks like construction work. I was mildly perplexed by the image, since the person from behind looked like a woman. However, before the bus passed that person, during the last few seconds, I realized that person was actually a man, but with a ponytail! So, this is how I evaluated the moment. Let’s say we use the 100 memory words as memory locations, like a 10×10 grid, to partition the evaluation, and the locations have different identities, such as red ‘X’s, green check marks, and ‘N/A’s(not availables). We’ll use that to partition the experience. So, when I go back to that memory, up until the moment I realized that person was a man, I maintain credibility to the belief that I was perplexed, as I thought that person was a woman. When I realized that person was a man, I still maintain the belief that such a person was thought by me to be a woman, until I realized that such a person was actually a man. That way, I only beat myself up, so to speak, for what I actually did do in my mind. Let the punishment fit the crime, so to speak. I keep the credibility that I believed that person was a woman, and I acknowledged that I was mistaken with that belief. For example, another person maybe in a similar situation may experience some sort of bewilderment and awkwardness, even though their original thoughts were genuine and sincere.

So, once you are familiar with the idea called ‘Mistaken identity’, instead of going through all of that bewilderment and awkwardness interaction, you can instead used idea ‘Not another’, and not interact and resolve it at all.

Boxed in limitations:

Another sub-category of idea ‘Not another’ is an idea I invented a few hours or so ago today. I call it ‘Boxed in limitations’. That is when an instigation ‘boxes you in’, causing you to unknowingly adversely interact with a certain aspect of your limitations, and the ‘bait’, what is causing you to interact with such limitations, is a grievance caused by an instigation you experienced that you are trying to resolve. Here is a definition of ‘boxed in’ from web site thefreedictionary.com: ‘boxed in’: ‘unable to physically move from a certain spot due to being blocked by something’. And here is the sentence: ‘Well, I guess I’m not leaving yet because my car is boxed in.’

Here are 2 illustrations of people learning to be aware of what their limitations are so that they can better interact with their limitations with other situations. The 1st example is from a short story of a man that looks like Merlin, for example, he has a long white beard, teaching a boy something. Let’s say the boy is 4-9 years old. In this moment, the old man said sternly to continue working on something knowing that the boy cannot continue, and the boy replied by saying quote ‘I can’t!’ When the boy declared to the teacher that he can’t continue, he indicated to himself and to the teacher that he has an obvious limitation, that he cannot proceed with a certain task after a certain moment of working at it.

(I just want to mildly caution you that used idea ‘Not another’ on myself, so that I can more tenably offer this idea to you. Apparently, this idea for me requires a little more humility for me to use in order for me to type it in.) The 2nd illustration, refurbished with inaproprieities removed, of course, is in episode 7.15 ‘Lower Decks’ from sci-fi tv show ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation(1994)’. If you have an Amazon Prime membership, the episode is available to you without additional payment. In the illustration, Worf(Michael Dorn) is giving an unannounced training session to Sito Jaxa(Shannon Fill). According to Amazon Video, the scene starts 26 minutes and 58 seconds into the episode. Keep in mind that the scene is refurbished for this advice. Here is the quote:

Worf: ‘Ensign Sito.’

Sito: ‘Yes, sir.’

Worf: ‘I also teach an advanced class. I believe you may be ready to participate. However, before you can join the group, you must pass the test.’

Sito: ‘I should practice first.’

Worf: ‘No. No practice. That is part of the test. The test must be unannounced. (Worf puts a blindfold on Ensign Sito) Can you see?’

Sito: ‘No.’

Worf: ‘Good. The test has begun. Defend yourself!’

So, after sparring with Ensign Sito, and Ensign Sito falls on the ground mat 3 times, this quote begins 28 minutes and 40 seconds into the episode:

Sito: ‘Ow!’

Worf: ‘You did not anticipate.’

Sito: (getting up after falling on the place mat for the 3rd time. She then takes off her blindfold) ‘How am I supposed to defend myself when I can’t see a thing?’

Worf: ‘Stop making excuses. Replace the blindfold.’

Sito: ‘No! It’s not a fair test.’

Worf: ‘Very good, Ensign. You have passed the challenge.’

Sito: ‘What? By taking off the blindfold?’

Worf: ‘It takes courage to say the test is unfair.’

Sito: ‘Sir…is there really such a thing as this test?’

Worf: ‘No, there is not, but perhaps next time you are judged unfairly, it will not take so many bruises for you to protest.’

The 3rd illustration is from a person in history that I think is very well known for having certain afflictions, and yet that person was able to interact with such afflictions with the responsibility of being emperor of Rome. That person is Claudius. According to wikipedia, he was emperor of Rome from 41 to 54. Here is a quote from wikipedia regarding his afflictions under category ‘Claudius affliction and personality’:

” The historian Suetonius describes the physical manifestations of Claudius’ affliction in relatively good detail. His knees were weak and gave way under him and his head shook. He stammered and his speech was confused. He slobbered and his nose ran when he was excited. The Stoic Seneca states in his Apocolocyntosis that Claudius’ voice belonged to no land animal, and that his hands were weak as well. ”

So, here is a possible example of an innocent person being ‘boxed in’ by an aspect of his/her own limitations as he/she tries to resolve the experienced instigation: In the 1st 2 examples I offered you, a person was learning what his/her limitations were. In the 3rd example, a man was able to not only be aware of a certain aspect of his limitations, but he was also able to publicly show it and interact with it while exercising his responsibilities associated with being a Roman emperor. With respect said, the possible example is probably you. If you experienced an instigation at work or at school, and you are using a lot of time at home trying to resolve the experience, for instigations that are mild to moderate, then it’s possible that the instigator caused you to be ‘boxed in’ with certain limitations that you have. [6/30/2018: I thought I could give you a more specific example, but I don’t think I can within the time allowance I gave myself.]

The solution, hopefully, is to use idea ‘Not another’, so that you no longer have to continue resolving it. Keep in mind that when you use these ideas, you use them within your resource availability to resolve, not the instigator’s resource availability to resolve. In a job related context, I speculate that innocent people tend to have almost no experience addressing grievances with management. Instigators, however, can have a very fortified experience when addressing grievances with management. For example, I believe it’s possible, even though it’s only a speculation, that instigators have experience interacting as groups with other instigators, giving them and management more control as to how the interaction occurs. I don’t think innocent people in general have such an experience.

Well, that’s it for idea ‘Not another’. Since I plan to take off July 4 next month, I may start explaining idea ‘Not add’ then. Otherwise, I will probably explain idea ‘Not add’ next Saturday, a week from now. So, if you are there, I’ll see you then.
