Salutations.

It is now 8:41 AM EST for me. Inititially, I wanted to introduce it’s music video, but I didn’t like it. I originally watched a concert performance of the song from a recording I made of it from channel MTVLH, and the show is called ‘Glastonbury 2017’, but I can’t find a good copy of it in www.youtube.com. But I did find an acceptable performance of that song in www.youtube.com. The song is called ‘Want You Back’ by Haim. Here’s a short quote from wikipedia.org about the song:

‘ Lyrically, “Want You Back” is about lost love, in which the band reflects upon a former relationship that they took for granted. ‘

And here is a quote from the lyrics:

Just know that I want you back
Just know that I want you back
Just know that I want you
I’ll take the fall and the fault in us
I’ll give you all the love I never gave before I left you

If you want to, you can watch Haim’s ‘Want You Back’s official music video, but I’m not recommending it. It’s not bad. In other words, I want you to have a more entertaining version of that performance. And the performance that Haim gave of song ‘Want You Back’ that I found in www.youtube.com is made by ‘The One Show’ in 2017. To watch that performance for free, search for phrase ‘haim want you back one show’ in www.youtube.com, and it should be one of the 1st selections offered, with over 44 thousand views. That recording was published by ‘HAIM videos’ on Jul 7, 2017. Here’s a comment from that youtube page I recommend that you read:

‘ I swear that Este’s bass face vets more and more intense every time I see it. ‘

There’s a photo of Este Arielle Haim on wikipedia.org. If you see the performance from ‘The One Show’, according to that comment, Este presents a ‘bass face’ when she performs. So, if you see one of the women, no offense intented, presenting a ‘weird looking’ face, that’s probably Este presenting her ‘bass face’.

I want to type in the references 1st before I begin explaining the idea. This is a new idea I invented, which means I’m postponing yet again explaining ideas ‘Admit’, ‘Anticipate’, and ‘Proof’. The good news, so to speak, is that I was able to see those ‘Document 72 Hours’ episodes finally from channel ‘NHKHD’. I think I was recording those episodes since the beginning of this year. I had I think 19 of those episodes in the cable box. I wasn’t able to just ‘fast forward’ through them like most tv shows and movies I would encounter. However, after I started watching people being interviewed that I thought were very boring to watch, I learned very quickly to ‘fast forward’ through such interviewers. I now have only 2 episodes of ‘Document 72 Hours’ still in the cable box. One was about Valentine’s Day, and the other is about a situation in Japan that I think is like speed dating in America. I also deleted a lot of other programming, making more space in the cable box.

The 1st 3 references is to establish the use of celebrity Bruce Willis in the story/idea I am about to explain to you. Basically, in the 1st 2 references, the character he is portraying and him directly are referred to as an ‘ape’, a gorilla. I’m using those 2 references as implied consent for you to imagine Bruce Willis in ‘Simpsons’ cartoon form, and in basic imagination use without the need to imagine a gorilla, if you choose to, you may imagine him as a gorilla walking into a meeting, and everyone else looks human. I am not a psychiatrist, but the idea behind that is to allow you to ridicule/insult him as you imagine him. And the purpose of that is allow you to have a more relaxed, more casual, contemplation involving him in the story. The story I will give you involving Bruce Willis will be to put Bruce Willis in a business type situation. However, I also would want you to have a more relaxed contemplation use of him. The purpose of imagining Bruce Willis as a gorilla is to allow this idea to work on many forms of instigation.

The 1st reference is from the movie ‘The Fifth Element(1997)’, starring Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas. The movie is available streaming from Amazon.com, and according to Amazon Video, that scene starts 59 minutes and 46 seconds into the movie, Korben Dallas and his mom are talking over the phone. Here is the quote:

Korben Dallas: ‘Now, will you just settle down and explain this to me calmly.’

Korben’s Mom: ‘Oh, so you don’t know you won a trip to Fhloston Paradise for two for 10 days. And I suppose you’re just gonna leave me somewhere.’

Korben: ‘If I’d have won a trip, I’d know about it. Somebody would’ve notified me.’

Korben’s Mom: ‘Korben, they’ve been blaring your name out on the radio for the last hour, you big ape.’

So, to be clear, Korben’s Mom called Korben quote:

Korben’s Mom: ‘…you big ape.’

The 2nd reference is in episode 31.5 ‘Gorillas on the Mast’ from animated tv series ‘The Simpsons(2019)’. The episode is available streaming on Amazon.com, and according to Amazon Video, that scene starts 18 minutes and 12 seconds into the episode. Lisa Simpson is looking for a home for a gorilla, and she made a search using the phrase ‘gorilla sanctuary’. Here is a quote from one of the possibilities that she found using that search criteria:

Spokesperson: ‘Here at U.T.A., United Talented Apes, we’ll shave your gorilla and make him a body double for Bruce Willis, and if he behaves even a little, he could ‘become’ Bruce Willis!’

The 3rd reference is just the fact that there was a roast made for Bruce Willis. The show is called ‘Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis(2018)’. Here is a description of the show from www.imdb.com:

‘ Traditional comedy ‘roast’ where celebrities, comics and friends poke fun at actor Bruce Willis. ‘

I’m not encouraging you to watch that roast. I just want you to know that a roast for Bruce Willis exists. I like the roast, but to me, it’s more a living tribute to Bruce Willis than a roast. It still has mature themes, since it is a roast.

The next reference is from fantasy thriller tv series ‘The Rook(2019)’, starring Joely Richardson as Linda Farrier, and Adrian Lester as Conrad Grantchester. The episode is called ‘Chapter 3’, episode 1.3, and is available streaming from Amazon.com. According to Amazon Video, that scene starts 26 minutes and 43 seconds into the episode, Linda Farrier and Conrad Grantchester are talking. Here is the quote:

Conrad Grantchester: ‘You know my value here, don’t you, Linda?’

Linda Farrier: (exhales) ‘In this particular situation, or in general?’

Conrad: ‘Both.’

Linda Farrier: ‘I do. All right. He’s yours. But you know this man is Lugat. We need to maintain a united front.’

Conrad: ‘I would have it no other way.’

The last reference is in episode 1.26 ‘Errand of Mercy’ from sci-fi tv series ‘Star Trek(1967)’. It’s been years since I watched this episode. As I remember it, the Klingon Kor(John Colicos) said the phrase. But according to the episode available in Amazon.com, Captain Kirk(William Shatner) said it. If you have Amazon Prime, that episode is available streaming without additional payment. According to Amazon Video, that scene starts 45 minutes and 12 seconds into the episode. Here is the quote:

Captain Kirk: ‘Well, no one wants war…’

It’s now 11: 05 AM EST for me. I’m going to take a short break to order some food. I’ll continue in an hour.

United front:

It is now 11:45 AM EST for me. To give you an idea of what Bruce Willis does in this story, I recommend a scene in episode 7.18 ‘Q2’ from sci-fi tv series ‘Star Trek: Voyager(2001)’. The episode is available streaming from Amazon.com, and if you have Amazon Prime, no additional payment is required. In that scene, Q2(Keegan de Lancie) is introduced by Commander Chakotay(Robert Beltran) to a hologram simulation. Q2’s job is to settle a dispute. The scene starts 18 minutes and 7 seconds into the episode. Here is the quote:

Chakotay: ‘Computer, run Diplomacy Scenario 12-Alpha.’

skipping to 18 minutes and 38 seconds:

Chakotay: ‘They’re fighting over the mining rights to a planetoid. Your job is to settle the dispute.’

Q2: ‘These aliens mean nothing to me. What do I care if they can’t get along?’

Chakotay: ‘One of your responsibilities as a Q is to maintain order in the universe, right?’

Q2: ‘So I’ve been told.’

Chakotay: ‘Well, if you can’t help these races come to an agreement, there might be a war. The Alpha Quadrent would be thrown into chaos.’

Chakotay: ‘Why don’t we try running the first scenario together?’

Q2: ‘I don’t need your help. I can do this myself.’

Chakotay: ‘If you want to try… be my guest. I’ll be back in 30 minutes to check on your progress.’

skipping to 19 minutes and 30 seconds…

Q2: ‘Computer, resume program.’

Nausicaan(Anthony Holiday): ‘The planetoid is in Nausicaan space. It belongs to us now.’

Bolian(Scott Davidson): ‘You can’t intimidate us. We have as much right to mine that dilithium as you do.’

So, basically, Bruce Willis works for a company, and he and a handful of others, their jobs are to settle disputes for that company. It’s a lot like that scene in that ‘Star Trek’ episode. And there’s always work for him, meaning that it’s not practical to put all of the work he may be responsible for in one list. So, he does what he reasonably can, and that usually involves disputes that the company deems to be urgently addressed. And in Bruce Willis’s mind, even if the company hires a hundred more people to do his job, that wouldn’t be enough.

As he begins his work day, he usually starts with the expectation to maintain a sense of humility, and at least most of the time, his preferred sense of humility is gone. But every day he begins his job, even though he fails to maintain a preferred sense of humility, as he works, that preferred sense of humility does not exist. And that is what makes this story useful. Bruce Willis almost always is not able to maintain a preferred sense of humility as he is working, but he perseveres every day in the beginning of his work day to at least try to maintain that preferred sense of humility.

I’m trying to give advice to non-managerial employees. And it is my belief that when an employee experiences an instigation from another employee, and let’s say for the sake of example that employee has already been talked to several times by management about his/her conduct, then it’s possible that that employee wants you to try to evaluate and resolve such an experience, but with something missing. For example, you experience a mild to moderate instigation at work from another employee, if that employee already has experience instigating other employees, then it’s possible that that employee wants you to resolve the experience with something missing, something that you should be more aware of as you evaluate and resolve it. So, let’s see if I can help you with that. In the ‘Bruce Willis’ story, when you imagine him trying to settle a dispute, he is doing so without using his preferred sense of humility. What if anyone in general, if they have Bruce Willis’s job of trying to settle certain disputes, what if people in general would not be able to maintain a certain preferred perspective?

And that is why I recommended that ‘Errand of Mercy’ Star Trek episode, when Captain Kirk said quote:

Captain Kirk: ‘Well, no one wants war…’

It’s been years since I watched that episode, but even though Kirk and Kor are violently arguing with each other, Kirk’s statement was recognized by Kor. They both have the perspective to believe that ‘no one wants war’. That is one of the reasons why I believe Klingon Kor was promoted to the Klingon High Council later, because Kor has a developed sense of diplomacy. Kor has the perspective to respond diplomatically, even though both Kor and Kirk are involved with a major dispute amongst themselves. So, saying that, it is my belief that it is possible that, when an innocent person is instigated at work, that when that innocent person is trying to resolve and evaluate such an experience, the ‘puzzle’ of that instigation is encouraging that innocent person to not use certain perspectives when trying to evaluate and resolve such an experience.

So, when you are trying to resolve a mild to moderate instigation from an instigator at work, keep in mind that it’s possible that the instigation is in a form that may discourage you from using certain perspectives while trying to evaluate and resolve such an experience. To help you remember what those perspectives are, I oversimplistically recommend that you contemplationally use the phrase ‘United front’. I got that phrase from that episode of ‘The Rook’ that I already quoted. Here’s a partial quote:

Linda Farrier: ‘I do. All right. He’s yours. But you know this man is Lugat. We need to maintain a united front.’

Conrad: ‘I would have it no other way.’

It is my opinion that Conrad Grantchester is presenting an example of maintaining a sense of humility that the Bruce Willis in that story would want to emulate. When Conrad said ‘I would have it no other way’, in the context of this advice and refurbished for advice, that is an example of a maintained use of humility while working, and that is why I am recommending a phrase that Linda Farrier said:

Linda Farrier: ‘We need to maintain a united front.’

More specifically, the ‘united front’ phrase.

So, if you experienced a mild to moderate instigation at work, and you suspect that trying to resolve and evaluate it is causing you to ‘miss something’ contemplationally, I recommend that, with the rest of this advice, you contemplationally say ‘United front’ to help add what you think is missing.

It is now 2:00 PM EST for me. I am going to close this list now. And since I have less tv shows/movies in the cable tv box, I should have more time to add more ideas to this list. I may add ideas ‘Admit’ and ‘Anticipate’ this coming Friday, and then finally explain ‘Proof’ next Saturday. So, if you are there, I’ll see you then.
